(a) whether the Government has contemplated to entrust container traffic business to private players;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the advantages envisaged by entrusting the container business to private players; and
(d) the steps taken/being taken to ensure that there will be no retrenchment in Railways on this count?

(a): Yes, Sir.
(b): In order to meet the growing demand for container trains, it has been decided that organisations other than Container Corporation of India will also be considered for movement of container traffic.
(c): This will increase Railways` share in Container traffic.
(d): No retrenchment is contemplated on the Railways on this account.
