(a) whether the Government have considered the desirability of vesting the work of delimitation of the Lok Sabha and State Assembly Constituencies with the Election Commission;
(b) if so, the details thereof and action taken in the matter; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefore?

(a), (b) & (c) : Election Commission had sent a proposal for vesting it with the entire responsibility of delimitation of electoral constituencies instead of appointing a Delimitation Commission for this purpose. Government has not so far found the proposal acceptable especially in view of the constitutional bar on undertaking fresh delimitation as well as lack of consensus among political parties on the subject of delimitation/rotation of seats.
