Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS
(SHRI VIJAY GOEL)

(a) & (b): As Sports Authority of India (SAI) had been facing shortage of coaches for its own sports promotional schemes, the Governing Body of SAI in its 44th Meeting held on 25.05.2015 decided to redeploy SAI coaches posted in State Coaching Centres (SCCs) of the State Governments.
The State Governments were advised that if they required the services of SAI coaches for their SCCs, they could take them on deputation basis. However, some SAI coaches are still working with SCCs.
(c) Yes, Madam. SAI implements Sports Promotional Schemes to identify and nurture young sports talent amongst rural & tribal youths in the country. Major Sports Promotional Schemes implemented by SAI in this regard are as under:
? SAI Training Centre (STC)
? Special Area Games (SAG)
? Army Boys Sports Company (ABSC)
Under these Schemes, boarding, lodging, sports kit, competition exposure, medical insurance, equipment, stipend etc., is provided. Scientific coaching is imparted. Centres under these Schemes are spread all over the country.
Special Area Games (SAG) Scheme is specifically focused on identifying and nurturing talent from amongst rural, tribal, coastal and other genetically talented and gifted sportspersons, and honing the skills to international level excellence.
