(a) the production of soyabean and urad in the country during the last three years, State-wise;
(b) whether adverse environmental condition and insect attack have led to a dip in the production of these crops during the said period and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of hectares of crop losses in soyabean and urad reported in the country and the details of the hectares that have been covered under the crop insurance scheme during the same period?

(a): State-wise details of production of soyabean and urad in the country during the last three years i.e. 2012-13 to 2014-15 are given in the Annexure.
(b): Both soyabean and urad are rain dependent crops and their production was adversely affected mainly due to aberration in rainfall pattern in the last two Kharif seasons. During Kharif 2014, sowing was delayed due to late onset of monsoon, while during Kharif 2015, long dry spell at the time of seed filling period during August and September led to dip in production of these two Kharif crops. In addition to adverse weather conditions, attack of sucking pests, white fly and thrips in urad and that of charcoal rot, YMV, stem fly, girdle beetle and tobacco caterpillar in soyabean also caused losses across the States.
(c): The details of area of soyabean and urad in the country covered under the Crop Insurance Scheme along with the area on which claims were made on account of losses in production of above crops during 2012-13 to 2014-15 are as under:-
