(a) whether a Central agricultural university is being set up at Jhansi;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether there is any proposal to set up similar universities in other States, including Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka; and
(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a) The proposal to establish a Central Agricultural University for Bundelkhand Region, at Jhansi, is to cater to the needs of the districts of both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in Bundelkhand Region, has been mooted.
(b) The Planning Commission has already granted in-principle approval for establishment of the Central Agricultural University (CAU). A meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) has been held.
(c) Proposal to set up a new Central Agricultural University in Meghalaya has been mooted.
(d) For Central Agricultural University in North-Eastern Region, Barapani, Meghalaya, the comments of various appraisal agencies have been received.
