Question : DEVELOPMENT OF KVIC



(a) the programmes being implemented by the present Government for the development of Khadi and Village Industries;

(b) whether the position of Khadi and Village Industries has been deteriorating day by day due to withdrawal of grants provided for Khadi and lakhs of people have been rendered unemployed due to this new policy;

(c) if so, whether the Government would reconsider its new policy; and

(d) if not, the extent of unemployment likely to increase as a result therefrom?

(a): The Government is implementing various programmes for the development of Khadi and Village Industries. It provides financial assistance in the form of grant and loan to the KVIC for the development of Khadi and Village Industries Programmes. Under the Khadi Programme, financial assistance is being provided to the implementing agencies in the form of `Rebate` and interest subsidy. For the development of village industries `Margin Money Scheme` is being implemented.

The Government has also launched a National Programme for Rural Industrialisation under which rural cluster are being developed.
