Question : RECRUITMENT BOARD IN PHARATI IN PRASAR BHARATI



(a) whether the Government has made provision of the Recruitment Board in the Prasar Bharati Act;

(b) if so, the reasons for the delay in setting up the Recruitment Board;

(c) the manner in which the recruitments are taking place in Prasar Bharati without existence of Recruitment Board; and

(d) the number of vacant posts in different cadres in Prasar Bharati and since when these posts are lying vacant?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The Recruitment Rules for various categories of posts and the rules governing conditions of service of Prasar Bharati employees have not been finalised by Prasar Bharati yet. Till this is done no recruitment can be undertaken by the Recruitment Board and hence the Recruitment Board has not been constituted.

(c) : Recruitment to the posts of Director General, All India Radio and Director General, Doordarshan has been made, for which Prasar Bharati Board performed the functions of Recruitment Board, under Prasar Bharati Act. Apart from this, recruitment to Junior Time Scale of IB(E)S was made in the year 1998 through UPSC. Some recruitment has also been made to the posts in Group `C` & `D` levels with the authorization of Prasar Bharati Board.

(d) : This information about the vacant posts is not maintained centrally and so is not readily available.
