Question : PAK ATTACKS ON DEFENCE ESTABLISHMENTS

(a) the number of times the army camps and establishments in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere were attacked by the militants after the “Operation Vijay” till date;

(b) the number of Officers and Jawans of the Indian Army killed and injured in these attacks;

(c) the number of militants killed, injured and captured therein; and

(d) the measures taken for tight security of army camps, establishments and installations in border areas?

MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI GEORGE FERNANDES)

(a) There were eight physical attacks on Army/RR camps after OP Vijay, till 19 August, 2000.

(b) Three Officers and 21 Jawans of Indian Army were killed and 1 Officer and 53 Jawans were injured in these attacks.

(c) Nineteen terrorists were killed. No terrorist was apprehended.

(d) Adequate measures have been taken to prevent such attacks on army posts and installations.
