(a) whether the Reliance Industries Limited has stopped the discount being given on diesel and petrol sold to public sector oil companies;
(b) if so, the reasons advanced by Reliance Industries to oil PSUs for discontinuation of discount; and
(c) the impact on the finances of the public sector oil companies ?

(a) to (c): Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had offered Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) a volume discount on diesel during 2004-05. While this discount is at present not being offered in the current year, OMCs have initiated a dialogue with all refiners, including RIL, to provide suitable trade discounts for the whole of the current financial year.
