Question : ENCROACHMENT OF LAND AT TUGHLAKABAD FORT



(a) whether all the land encroached upon around the Tughlakabad Fort has been got vacated;

(b) if so, the number of unauthorised structures demolished and the total area of land that become available for development as a result thereof;

(c) whether any inquiry has been made and the responsibility has been fixed against the officers with whose connivance such unauthorised structures came up;

(d) if so, the outcome of the inquiry and the action taken against the offenders; and

(e) the steps being taken to check the recurrence of such unauthorised constructions/encroachments else-where in Delhi?

(a)&(b): Archaeological Survey of India has reported that all the land encroached upon around the Tughlakabad Fort has bot been got vacated. Approximately 300 structures comprising godowns, sheds, workshops, enclosures etc. were demolished and an area of 300 bighas of land was reclaimed for the development.

(c)&(d): The matter is under investigation of CBI.

(e): The government has been impressing upon local bodies including DDA not to allow unauthorised constructions in their areas. Similarly, all land owning agencies have been requested from time to time not to allow encroachment on their lands.
