(a) the number of educated/uneducated unemployed youth in the country as per the record
of Employment Exchanges alongwith the SC/ST as on March,2000, State-wise and Union
Territory-wise separately; and
(b) the number of those unemployed youth provided employment through Employment Exchanges
during each of the last three years?

a) The number of job-seekers, all of whom are not necessarily unemployed, registered with
the Employment Exchanges educated/uneducated, SC/ST category-wise at the end of 1997 (latest available), is given in the annexure.
b) The number of placements effected by the Employment Exchanges during the year 1997,
1998 & 1999 were of the order of 2.75, 2.33 & 2.21 lakhs respectively.
