Question : MISSING MONUMENT ON ASI LIST



(a) whether attention of the Government has been drawn to the news-item captioned `Under ASI regime monuments go missing` appearing in the Hindu dated October 8, 2002;

(b) if so, the number of monuments across the country that are enlisted in ASI records but are not traceable; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government for tracing and proper maintenance of the missing enlisted monuments?

(c) Archaeological Survey of India is making serious efforts through systematic archaeological survey to trace the monuments categorised as untraced.
