Question : Inflow of Tourists

(a) whether the Government has any statistics regarding number of foreign and domestic tourists visited various destinations in the country;
(b) if so, the details of foreign and domestic tourists visited various destinations in the country during the last five years, State-wise along with the revenue generated during the last five years, year-wise;
(c) whether the Government is aware that the annual footfall of foreign tourist to India has fallen drastically during the last financial year causing serious damage to the tourism industry and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor along with the steps taken by the Government to boost the tourism industry;
(d) whether the agitations and violence held due to Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) has impacted the tourism industry along with the details of the countries which have imposed ban or issued advisory for its citizens visiting India; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Details of Domestic Tourist Visits (DTV) and Foreign Tourist Visits (FTV) in the States/UTs for the years 2014 to 2018 are given in Annexure-I. Data on tourist visits to destinations and revenue generated from tourism are not centrally maintained in the Ministry of Tourism. However, Foreign Exchange Earned from tourism in terms of rupees crore are estimated to be 120367, 134844, 154146, 177874, 194881 and 210981 for the years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.

(c): In alignment with the practice being followed by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India maintains data on Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTA) calendar year-wise. The details of FTA for the last two calendar years are given below:

(d) & (e): No assessment has been done regarding impact on tourism of agitations held due to Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).
