Question : Survey of Karnaprayag-Joshimath Railway Line Project

(a) whether there is a proposal to connect Karnaprayag to Joshimath and Rudraprayag to Sonprayag;

(b) if so, whether the survey for the said project has been completed;

(c) whether there is any proposal to connect Ramnagar to Chaukhutiya and Chaukhutiya to Gairsain;

(d) if so, the details thereof and whether the survey of the said project has been completed; and

(e) if not, the reasons for the same?

(a) & (b): Rudraprayag is a proposed station in ongoing Rishikesh-Karnaprayag New line project. Beyond Karnaprayag, survey for connectivity to Joshimath and Sonprayag has been taken up.

(b) to (e) Survey for construction of new line between Ramnagar and Chaukhutia with extension up to Gairsen (211.96 km) has been completed. The project could not be taken forward; being financially unviable.
