Question : Agreement with Kyrgyzstan for Agriculture Cooperation

(a) whether any agreement is proposed to be signed between India and Kyrgyzstan with regard to various activities in agricultural sector;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether veterinary, plant, modern technique based seeds, efficient use of various kinds of irrigation means are also covered under the agreement;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether it is a fact that the above said agreement is likely to be beneficial in the field of agriculture research and education, fisheries etc.; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (f): Madam, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has already signed an agreement with the Government of Kyrgyzstan for cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Food Industry on 20th December, 2016. The Agreement broadly covers areas like, Veterinary science, Aquaculture & Fisheries, Dairy development, Seed technology, Plant Protection, different types of irrigation, Horticulture, Agricultural Research and Education, Post Harvest Management of fruits and Vegetable.

Such agreements are for the purpose of capacity building, knowledge exchange through visits of scientists and technicians, exchange of genetic resources, enhancement of trade ties etc. which are beneficial in all fields of Agriculture especially in the areas of Agricultural Research and Education and Fisheries.
