Question : SHORTAGE OF STAFF IN IB



(a) whether there is shortage of staff in the Intelligence Bureau (IB);

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the number of vacancies in Intelligence Bureau in the country including Bihar;

(d) whether the Union Government has made any efforts to fill up the said vacancies; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which all the vacant posts are likely to be filled up?

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI JITENDRA SINGH)

(a) to (b): Yes, Madam. Vacancies exist in Intelligence Bureau due to optimization scheme, staggering of recruitment process and creation of new posts.

(c): A total of 9443 posts are lying vacant in Intelligence Bureau in he country, including Bihar.

(d) & (e): Special recruitment drives such as direct recruitment, campus selection, appointment on contractual contractual basis, deputations, promotions etc. have been resorted to fill up the vacancies. Examinations are conducted regularly to fill up direct recruitment vacancies in non- Gazetted Group ‘C’ Executive posts. Requisitions have also been placed on Union Public Service Commission/Staff Selection Commission for selection of candidates. Filling up of the vacancies is also part of the Action Plan of the Ministry which is periodically monitored and reviewed at the level of Home Secretary/Home Minister.
