Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI CH. VIDYASAGAR RAO)

(a) & (b): The field work of population enumeration at the Census of India 2001 has already been completed throughout the country. State-wise census data as per provisional results of 2001 Census are available in various census publications published by this office from time to time. Such data have also been made available on Internet and CD ROM.

(c) (d) & (e): No, Sir. The objective of the census is to enumerate all the persons living in India during the enumeration period irrespective of their nationality. Since no question on nationality was canvassed at the Census of India 2001, therefore, it was not possible to identify any person by his or her nationality including Bangladeshis and Pakistanis.
