Question : Incentives under Sub-Mission of Agro-forestry

(a) whether the Government has implemented the Sub-Mission of Agro-forestry (SMAF) under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) to promote tree plantation on farmland for enhancing productivities of crops and cropping system;
(b) if so, the incentive provided in other schemes for horticulture/miscellaneous tree plantation;
(c) whether there is any provision to extend the SMAF in other districts of Odisha; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Yes sir. Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is presently implementing Sub-Mission on Agroforestry (SMAF) Scheme under National Mission for sustainable agriculture (NMSA) to promote tree plantation on farmland for enhancing productivities of crops and cropping system in 23 States/ UTs including State of Odisha.

(b): Under the SMAF scheme, 50% assistance to farmers is given through State Govt. for nursery development, boundary plantation and block plantation of prominent tree species. Incentives are also provided under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme for holistic growth of the horticulture sector covering fruits, vegetables, root and tuber crops, mushrooms, spices, flowers, aromatic plants, coconut, cashew etc. Assistance to farmers is given for quality planting material, drip system, integrated nutrient management, integrated pest management etc.

(c) & (d): The State Government of Odisha may implement SMAF scheme in any district of the State as per their requirement.
