Question : APPOINTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT OFFICERS



(a) whether the Government have appointed any environment officers in the country including Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details indicating the names of the places where such officers have been appointed along with the objectives of thereof, State-wise;

(c) whether the stipulated tenure of some of these officers has already expired but it has been extended from time to time; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) The Department of Environment and Pollution Control Boards in all States including Maharashtra, have appointed officers to discharge various functions for enforcement of environmental laws. Some of the officers are appointed as permanent staff while others are appointed on tenure basis. Depending on the need, the tenures of such officers have been extended from time to time.
