Question : WAITING LIST FOR LANDLINE AND MOBILE PHONE CONNECTIONS



(a) the number of landline and mobile phone consumers as on July 31, 2004 in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, District-wise;

(b) the waiting list of the consumers for the landline and mobile phones as on July 31, 2004 in the aforesaid districts; and

(c) the steps being taken by the Government to clear the waiting list and for making connections available on demand?

(a) & The district wise details of landline consumers and waiting list as on July 31st, 2004 in Andhra Pradesh, Uttat Pradesh (East) and Uttar Praadesh (West) are given in Annexure-I, II & III respectively. The total No. of mobile phone consumers in these states are as given below;-


(i) Andhra Praadesh 594557

(ii) U.P. (East) 431057

(iii) U.P. (West) 326536



No waiting list is being maintained for mobile consumers.

(c) BSNL has planned the deployment of wireless based systems (CDMA and Cordect) on a large scale to clear waiting for basic phones since most of the waiting list in the far flug rural areas. BSNL plans to provide a total of 100 Lakh connections including mobile phones during the Year 2004-05. The targets for provision of telephones (including mobile phones) in the three circles are as under:-
