Question : Facilities in Schools

(a) the quantum of funds released for development of basic infrastructure in Kendriya
Vidyalayas during each of the last three years and the current year, State and
year-wise;
(b) whether the Government has any mechanism to check whether the funds
released for basic infrastructure are properly utilized and if so, whether the
Government has taken action against principals who have failed to utilize the
amount or failed to carry out the work after utilizing the amount, State/ UT-wise;
(c) whether in most of Kendriya Vidyalayas the toilets for girl children are not in a
good condition putting them in lot of problem; and
(d) if so, the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) The Government of India does not allocate funds to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan
(KVS) state wise. No funds have been allocated to KVS separately for the purpose of
development of basic infrastructure. The details of funds released for basic infrastructure in
Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) during last three years and current year are annexed.
(b) Construction works are executed as per Deposit Work System through various Govt.
construction agencies like CPWD, MES, Railways, State PWDs, other Central/State PSUs
etc. Funds are released after receipt of physical and financial report from construction
agency through Principal alongwith photo graphs. Progress of work is also reviewed at
Vidyalaya level by the Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) every month.
(c) & (d) Separate toilets for boys and girls are available in good condition in all the Kendriya
Vidyalayas.
