Question : Financial Assistance under PMAY-G

(a) the number of houses targeted to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) by the year 2022;

(b) whether the targets are being achieved under PMAY-G in the country ;

(c) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(d) the details of the financial assistance being provided currently under the said Yojana;

(e) whether the Government proposes to increase the assistance being provided under PMAY-G for construction of houses keeping in view increase in the cost of construction materials;

(f) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(g) whether any scheme to broaden the eligibility criteria of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana is under consideration of the Government, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) beyond March, 2021 till March, 2024 for completion of remaining houses within cumulative target of 2.95 crore houses to achieve the objective of “Housing for All” in rural areas. As on 9th March, 2022, under PMAY-G, target of 2.62 crore houses have already been allocated to States/Union Territories (UTs) against which 2.28 crore houses has been sanctioned and 1.74 crore houses has been completed. The State/UT wise details is given in Annexure-I.

(d) The scheme provides financial Assistance of Rs.1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs. 1.30 lakhs in hilly states (including North Eastern States and UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh), difficult areas and Integrated Action Plan (IAP) districts. Additional assistance of Rs. 12,000/- is extended for construction of toilets through convergence with Swacch Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) or other dedicated source of funding. It is mandatory to provide support of 90/95 person days unskilled wage employment at the current rates to a PMAY-G beneficiary for construction of his / her house in convergence with MGNREGS.

(e) to (g) No Sir. There is no such proposal under consideration of this Ministry.
