Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:
(a) whether the representatives of the Ministry have taken part in the safety appraisal processes run by Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) with regard to Genetically Modified (GM) mustard;
(b) if so, the details and outcome thereof;
(c) whether the Government has assessed the impact on Ayurveda; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): The National Medicinal Promotion Board (NMPB) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), two autonomous organizations under Ministry of AYUSH has been consulted by Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (M/o EF&CC). The CCRAS has provided details on Brassica Species used in AYUSH system and medicinal use of DMH-11 in this regard.
(c) & (d): CCRAS, apex autonomous organization under Ministry of AYUSH has not conducted any study on the impact of GM Mustard.
