(a) to (d) A statement is laid on the Table of the House.
Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (d) of the Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 285 for answer on 8th December, 2000 regarding disinvestment in Public Sector Undertakings by Shri Kharabela Swain and Shri Bherulal Meena.
(a) Yes, Sir. The disinvestment target for the year 2000-2001 is Rs. 10,000 Crore.
(b) The Department of Disinvestment is taking action in about 30 PSUs / subsidiaries of PSUs where Government decision for disinvestment or for locating Joint Venture partners has been taken. Out of these companies, in 24 cases advisors have been appointed. A chart indicating the percentage of disinvestment in these 30 companies is enclosed. The amount receivable from the buyers of the Government`s stake depends on various factors like market conditions, potential of earnings from the company, financial status and performance of the company, percentage of stakes offered etc. Under the circumstances, it is not possible to precisely indicate the amount expected to accrue from disinvestment in these companies.
(c) The process of disinvestment is in different stages of implementation in these companies. Disinvestment process has not been completed so far in any case during this year.
(d) The Government would take all steps to achieve the target of disinvestment.
