Question : REHABILITATION PACKAGE FOR RELOCATED PEOPLE



(a) the status of people who have been relocated from designated or proposed national parks and sanctuaries in the country during the last three years and till date;

(b) the number of people relocated during the above period and the number of people proposed to be relocated from such parks and sanctuaries in near future, State-wise;

(c) the details of standard rehabilitation policy of the Government for such people; and

(d) the money allocated, spent or proposed to be spent on the job by the Union Government and the respective State Governments, State-wise ?

(a),(b)&(d)The implementation of relocation plan is the responsibility of the State Governments. The adaptation of the relocated families to the new environment is a long drawn process of socio cultural settlement. The Central Government provides financial assistance for the purpose of helping the State Governments in relocation of the people from National Parks and Sanctuaries.The details of financial assistance provided for the purpose during the last three years and till date by the Central Government and the number of families involved in relocation process are given in Annexure.

(c)The rehabilitation policy of the Government, as envisaged in the National Wild Life Action Plan (2002-2016), provides for the preparation of a time bound programme to assist voluntary relocation and rehabilitation of people living in National Parks and Sanctuaries and its implementation through the State Governments.
