Question : OPTICAL FIBRE IN TAMIL NADU



(a) the length of optical fibre used in Tamil Nadu for laying cable lines for telephone connections;

(b) whether the Government propose to replace the existing cables with optical fibre;

(c) if so, the time by which the work is likely to be started; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) NIL.

(b) No Sir, Optical Fibre is not being proposed for replacing the existing cables. However, optical fibre cables are being laid mostly to inter-connect different towns for long distance transmission and also to connect different exchanges in the same city.

(c) & (d) Not applicble in view of reply as above.
