Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE
MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

(SHRI PON. RADHAKRISHNAN)

(a) to (e) The Ministry is primarily responsible for development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs). Further, the Ministry considers declaration of State Roads as new NHs from time to time which is a continuous process and their subsequent development and maintenance are taken up accordingly to keep the NHs in traffic worthy condition as per inter-se priority, traffic density and availability of funds.

However, this Ministry has no schemes for providing road connectivity of villages and hamlets with NHs through link roads.
