Question : Subsidy to Cage Fish Farmers

(a) whether the Government has received proposals for cage fish farming under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) from Satara district of Maharashtra and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government had provided subsidy to the cage fish farmers in Satara district of Maharashtra and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the Government has any plans to provide any assistance to farmers who have set up cage fish farms under the earlier Neel KrantiYojana but could not receive subsidies due to the discontinuation of the scheme?

(a) to (c):Yes sir. The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) inter-alia provides financial assistance for taking up cage culturein inland water bodies (reservoirs) and open sea.During the current financial year (2020-21), the Department of Fisheries has approved consolidated fisheries development proposal of Government of Maharashtra at a total cost of Rs.153.19 crore with central share of Rs. 50.64 crore. This includes an amount of Rs.38.00 crore, with central share of Rs. 12.09 crore for cage culture. The Government of Maharashtrahas reported that they have received proposals for cage fish farming from Satara District under PMMSY 2020-21. The State Government further reported that during 2018-19 financial assistance was provided for cage farming in Satara District under the erstwhile Blue Revolution Scheme. The PMMSY provides to meet the committed liabilities in respect of only approved projects under the erstwhile Blue Revolution Scheme.
