Question : HYDEL POWER PROJECTS



(a) whether the Government have conducted any survey to promote Hydro power generation capacity in the country;

(b) if so, the details of present demand of power of each State;

(c) the estimated expenditure likely to be incurred thereon;

(d) whether any target has been set for tenth five year plan; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the contribution of the private sector in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER( SHRI P.M. SAYEED )

(a) :The `Reassessment studies of hydro-electric potential of the country` completed by Central Electricity Authority in 1987, have placed the hydro power potential at 84044 MW at 60% load factor. The State-wise details are given at Annexure-I.

(b) :Details of present demand of power of each State are given at Annexure-II.

(c) :An allocation of Rs.2,70,276.36 Cr. has been made during the 10th Plan for the Power Sector out of which Rs.1,77,050.64 crores is in the Central Sector.

(d) & (e) : During the 10th Plan, a capacity addition target of 41,110 MW has been fixed. The details of capacity addition during the Plan under Central, State and Private Sector are given at Annexure-III.
