(a) & (b): Section 12(5) of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (PWDVA) provides that the Magistrate shall endeavour to dispose of every application seeking one or more reliefs under this Act within a period of sixty days from the date of its first hearing.
(c): National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes information on crimes in its publication “Crime in India” which is available on the website of NCRB https://ncrb.gov.in. The published reports are available till the year 2019. As per information provided by NCRB, the number of cases that are pending for more than 6 months, State/ UT-wise including Bihar under PWDVA in the year 2019, is given in the annexure.
