THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS
(SHRI KAUSHAL KISHORE)
(a): In pursuance of the Government’s vision of “Housing for All”, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) since 25.06.2015 for giving Central assistance to States/ Union Territories (UTs) for addressing the housing requirement of people belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) (from 01.01.2017 to 31.03.2021) categories in urban areas through following four verticals:
(i) “In-Situ” Slum Redevelopment (ISSR);
(ii) Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS);
(iii) Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP); and
(iv) Beneficiary-led individual house construction or enhancement (BLC).
Based on the project proposals submitted by the States/ UTs as per their assessed demand of houses under the Scheme, 114 lakh houses have been sanctioned across the country including
99.88 lakh for EWS, 8.03 lakh for LIG and 6.15 lakh for MIG.
(b): Details of number of houses sanctioned, grounded for construction and completed under PMAY-U during each of the last three years are as under:

(c): During 2019 to 2022, a total of 47.50 lakh houses have so far been sanctioned for construction under the Scheme.
(d): State/UT-wise details of houses occupied by the beneficiaries are at Annexure.
(e): As on 30.11.2021, assessed demand of houses reported by States/ UTs under the scheme is 112.24 lakhs.
(f): In order to achieve the vision of ‘Housing for All’, Ministry monitors progress of the Scheme through periodic review meetings, video-conferences and field visits. Ministry, at various fora such as Review meetings, Workshops/ Conferences, Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meetings etc. and through correspondences, has advised States/ UTs to expedite the construction of sanctioned houses so that all houses are completed within the stipulated period.
