Question : HOUSING SCHEME FOR FISHERMEN



(a) whether the Government has any housing scheme for fishermen community in the country including Uttar Pradesh;

(b) if so,the details thereof,State-wise; and

(c) the financial assistance provided by the Government under the scheme during each of the last three years and the current year?

(a) & (b) Under `Development of Model Fishermen Villages` component of Centrally Sponsored National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen`, there is a provision for providing assistance to the States/UTs including Uttar Pradesh for housing, drinking water and community halls / work sheds for fishermen. The cost of a house, tubewell and community hall is limited to 50,000/-, 30,000/- (35,000/- for North-Eastern States) and 1,75,000/- respectively which is shared by the Centre and the States on 50:50 basis. In the case of North-Eastern States this sharing is on 75:25 basis while the entire cost is borne by the Centre in respect of Union Territories.

(c) An amount of ?12.72 crore, ?11.12 crore, 17.18 crore and ?12.18 crore has been released by the Central Government during the last three years and current fiscal year respectively under the said component.
