Question : UNAUTHORISED CONSTRUCTIONS IN DELHI



(a) whether the Government have provided specific information to CBI as desired by them to probe into unauthorised constructions in Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the time by which the same is likely to be provided to them to expedite the investigation; and

(d) the details of investigation carried out by CBI so far and the action taken thereon?

(a)to(c): On the basis of spot inspection of some houses in some posh colonies of South Delhi, which prima-facie revealted illegal/unauthorised constructions, the Government referred 31 cases to the CBI for detailed investigation.

(d): Out of thirty-one cases referred to CBI, they have made detailed investigations in six cases and have registered five cases, one case being involved in litigation.

Twenty-two officials of MCD of the rank of Junior Engineers and Assistant Engineers/Zonal Engineers, five contractors/builders, four Architects and ten owners have been named as accused.

Based on investigations CBI have also registered cases relating to disproportionate assets against four officials of MCD.
