THE MINISTER OF WATER RESOURCES (PROF. SAIF-UD-DIN SOZ)

(a) The State of Andhra Pradesh has filed an Interlocutory Application in 2005 before Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (KWDT) praying inter alia for issuing direction to the State of Karnataka not to store water beyond crest level of 509 metres in Almatti dam. Similarly, the State of Maharashtra has filed an Interlocutory Application before the Tribunal for issuing direction to the State of Karnataka to keep all spillway crest gates at Almatti dam storage fully opened from 1st of July to 15th of August each year to allow free and unobstructed passage of floods to Krishna river. The Tribunal by Orders dated 9th June, 2006 has disposed of the aforesaid Applications of the State of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra by declining to allow prayers.
