Question : National Railway Station Development Corporation

(a) whether the Government has closed the National Railway Station Development Corporation;

(b) if so, the likely effect on the projects which has been undertaken by this corporation;

(c) the details of the number of stations given to them for development and the current status thereof; and

(d) the details of funds allocated and spent on such projects?

(a) and (b): Yes, Sir. Government has given ‘in principle’ approval for closure of Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC). The projects undertaken by IRSDC shall be handed over to respective Zonal Railways and Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). Zonal Railways and RLDA will further develop the station projects.
(c) and (d): IRSDC was undertaking techno-economic feasibility studies for 63 stations across the country. Rani Kamlapati Railway Station and Gandhinagar Capital (Gujarat) Railway Station have been commissioned and rest of the stations are at various stages of studies/ development. Rani Kamlapati Railway Station has been developed through Public Private Partnership with no cost to Railways and Gandhinagar Capital (Gujarat) Railway Station has been developed through equity participation of Government of Gujarat and Ministry of Railways.
