(a) whether there is any proposal to set up divisional Headquarters of South Central Railway at Kurnool or Tirupati forming part of the backward region of Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) if so, the timeline fixed in this regard; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): As per records available, a representation was received for setting up a division at Tirupati. However, no such representation has been received for setting up a division at Kurnool.
(b) & (c): Divisions on Indian Railways are set up keeping in view factors like size, workload, traffic pattern and other administrative / operational requirements, consistent with the needs of economy and efficiency, without any regional considerations. The proposal for creation of a new Division with headquarters at Tirupati, when examined from these aspects, has not been found feasible.
