Question : CLIMATE CHANGE



(a) whether the Government has any plan to save the environment from climate change by adopting energy efficient measures and investment in renewable sector;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to review the curricula in architecture and civil engineering colleges to include energy efficient designs; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) The Government is implementing eight National Missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) to meet the challenge of Climate Change. Two of the eight National Missions i.e. National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency and National Mission on Sustainable Habitat are focusing on energy efficient measures and National Solar Mission is focusing on generation of renewable energy attracting investments.

(c) &(d) Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change in its meeting held on January 19, 2015, decided to scale up educational efforts of colleges and training insti- tutions on climate resilient technologies through curricular changes and pedagogy.
