(a) whether the Government has decided to purchase transport/fighter aircraft from USA;
(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the name of the manufacturing company;
(c) the utility of the aircraft in the armed forces;
(d) whether tender was issued in this regard in the recent past and if so, the details
thereof;
(e) the terms and conditions of the agreement alongwith the estimated cost of the deal; and
(f) the time by which the aircraft is likely to be delivered?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. Six C-130J-30 transport aircraft along with ground support
equipment, training and spares are being purchased from the Government of United States of
America (USG) for the Indian Air Force. The C-130J-30 aircraft are manufactured by M/s
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, USA.
(c) The C-130J-30 aircraft is a medium lift transport aircraft which is envisaged for
special operations in the Indian Air Force.
(d) & (e): The aircraft is being procured through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS)
procedure of the US Government at a cost of US $ 962.7 million.
(f) The delivery of the aircraft is expected to commence from February 2011 and conclude
by January 2012.
