MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT ( SHRI SUBHASH MAHARIA )

(a)to(c) Department of Drinking Water Supply was the nodal department for the Year 2000-01 and 2001-02 for PMGY- Rural Drinking Water component. As per the guidelines issued by this Department on the implementation of rural drinking water component of PMGY, the powers to plan, implement and sanction the projects/ scheme was delegated to States. From the Annual Plan 2002-03, the Planning commission has decided to coordinate the Programme on the pattern of earlier Basic Minimum Services (BMS) . States and Union Territories would, have flexibility to decide their interse allocation of Additional Central Assistance (ACA) among six PMGY sectors as per their own plan priorities and discretion. Presently this Department has no role in the implementation of Rural Drinking Water (RDW) component of Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY). However, the state wise data on rural drinking water component of PMGY for the year 2000-01and 2001-02 are enclosed (Annex. I&II).

(d)& (e) There is no report received so far from Government of Uttaranchal, However, an amount of Rs 434. 62 lakh was spent for the coverage of 32 Not Covered /Partially Covered habitations in the state under rural drinking water component of PMGY till December,2001.
