Question : STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA LIMITED



(a) whether certain cases of corruption in Steel Authority of India Limited and its ancillary companies have come to notice of the Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years;

(c) whether the Government has ordered an inquiry on the said corruption cases; and

(d) if so, the action taken by the Government on the basis of the enquiry report on guilty persons?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF (SHRI VISHNU DEO SAI) STEEL AND MINES

(a)&(b): During the last three years, 52 complaints have been received in the Ministry from various sources pertaining to Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), out of which 34 complaints have been closed.

(c)&(d): Disciplinary action is taken by the concerned Disciplinary Authority depending on the level of the employee, based on investigation into the cases including inquiry, where required. At present no case are pending for inquiry by the Government.
