(a) whether a delegation of United Arab Emirates(UAE) visited India recently for the purpose of
increasing rice import from India;
(b) if so, the details and outcome thereof; and
(c) the total quantity of Indian rice imported by UAE alongwith its percentage share in UAE market during
the last three years?

(a) & (b): A delegation of rice importers from UAE visited India on 25th July, 2007 for developing a long term
understanding in augmenting Basmati rice supplies from India at competitive prices. An interactive session for
the delegation members with basmati rice exporters was organized by APEDA.
(c) : The information regarding total quantity of Indian rice imported by UAE along with its percentage share in
UAE market during the last three years is not available in the data provided by the UAE Ministry of Economy.
However, the exports of Rice from India to UAE along with its percentage share in total export of Rice during the
last three years are as under:-
