(a) the details of railway stations in Assam that have been identified for upgrading to airport standards;

(b) the district-wise details thereof;

(c) the details of funds sanctioned, allocated and expended in Assam so far for their upgradation, district-wise;

(d) the details of the targets set and the achievements made so far; and
(e) whether the Government is planning to include some more railway stations of Assam under this scheme and if so, the details thereof and the details of funds estimated in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2870 BY SHRI KRIPANATH MALLAH TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 11.03.2020 REGARDING UPGRADING RAILWAY STATIONS IN ASSAM

(a) to (e): It is Railway’s endeavour to redevelop Railway stations by leveraging real estate potential of sparable railway land and air space in and around the station, generally at no cost to Railways. Railway conducts techno-economic feasibility studies of stations across the country. Based on the outcome of these feasibility studies, stations are taken up for redevelopment in phases.
Kamakhya railway station in the State of Assam has been identified for redevelopment and the process of preparation of Detailed Project Report has been initiated.
