Question : SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS



(a) whether the United Nations has proposed a Uniform Goal in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as prescribed for the Millennium Development Goals(MDGs) for the United Nations General Assembly meeting to be held in September, 2015;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether India likely to accept the above proposal mooted by the United Nations;

(d) if so, the details thereof and reaction of the Government thereon along with the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government will urge the UN to review the uniform goal in the SDG; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) and (b) : An Open Working Group (OWG) was set up by the United Nations General Assembly to work on developing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The OWG submitted its report containing 17 proposed Goals which will be the main basis for integrating the SDGs into the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the successor development agenda to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
