Question : National Youth Corps Scheme

(a) Whether the Government has launched any new scheme named as ‘National Youth Corps Scheme’. if so, the details thereof;
(b) If not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the details of fund allocation and the organizational/functional architecture of the Scheme?

(a) The Government had introduced a scheme called National
Youth Corps in the year 2010 by amalgamating two Schemes viz.
National Service Volunteers (NSV) and Rastriya Sadhbhawana
Yojana (RSY)
The main objective of NYC scheme are :
? To setup a group of disciplined and dedicated youth who have
the inclination and spirit to engage in the task of nation
building.
? To facilitate the realization of inclusive growth (both social and economic)
? To act as points for dissemination of information, basic knowledge in the community
? To act as group modulators and peer group educators
? To act as role models for the younger cohort especially towards enhancement of public ethics, probity and dignity of labour.

As per the provision of the scheme, a total of 12,000
volunteers in 623 districts are being deployed every year through
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. Volunteers in the age group of 18-
25 are being deployed for maximum period of 2 year duration.
Each volunteer is being paid Rs. 2,500/- as monthly honorarium.
Volunteers are taking up the task of motivating and revitalizing
Youth clubs and Mahila Mandals at village/ community level.
(b) Not Applicable.
(c) During the year 2015-16 an amount of Rs. 36 crores was
allocated.
The NYC volunteers are deployed at the block level and
monitored and guided by concerned District Youth Coordinator of
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.
