(a) whether the Government proposes to change the existing system of collection of data related to agriculture in the country;

(c) whether the existing system for the collection of data related to retail prices of essential commodities has become ineffective; and

(d) if so, the time by which the new system for collection of agricultural data is likely to be introduced?

(a): No, Madam.

(b): Does not arise.

(c) & (d): The Department of Consumer Affairs monitors the wholesale and retail prices of 22 essential commodities based on the data collected as per the norms/specification and guidelines provided by the Department. At present, there is no decision to change the existing system of collection of data on prices of essential commodities.
