(a) whether some private companies are also engaged in cooking gas business in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of gas companies which have been issued licences, State-wise ; and
(d) the details of the agreement entered into between the cooking gas companies and the Government ?

(a) to (d): The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000,
vide Notification dated 26-04-2000 permits parallel marketing of LPG by parallel marketer
carrying on any or all of the business of importing, storing, bottling, marketing, distributing
and/or selling LPG under the Parallel Marketing System (PMS).
The parallel marketer, subject to fulfillment of the condition prescribed in the said
LPG Control Order are free to operate and are not required to seek authorization or licence
from the Government.
As per information available with the Government, few private companies including M/s.
SHV Energy (P) Limited, M/s. TotalGaz, M/s. Caltex and M/s. Shell Gas (LPG) India are selling
domestic LPG in the country under the PMS.
