Question : Funds Allocated under JJM

(a) the total funds spent by the Government under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) till date;
(b) the details of the success achieved under JJM in the country, State-wise;
(c) the amount of funds allocated under this mission for the State of Jharkhand; and
(d) whether the goal of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ is likely to be achieved by 2024 and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Since August 2019, Government of India, in partnership with States, is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), to make provision of potable tap water supply to every rural household of the country by 2024.
In 2019-20, a sum of Rs. 10,000.66 Crore was allocated for the mission and the entire amount was utilized. Similarly, in 2020-21, Rs. 11,000 Crore was allocated and utilized. In 2021-22, out of Rs. 45,011 Crore allocated for the implementation of the mission, an amount of Rs. 31,305.26 Crore has been utilized so far.
(b) At the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission, out of 18.93 Crore rural households, 3.23 Crore (17%) households were reported to have tap water connections. So far, 5.96 Crore (30.83%) rural households have been provided with tap water connections in last two and half years. Thus, as of date, out of 19.32 Crore rural households in the country, 9.19 Crore (47.58%) households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes.The State/ UT-wise status of tap water connection in rural households across the country is annexed.
