(a) Whether the production of programmes telecast on Doordarshan is carried
out by the non-departmental persons;
(b) If so, the reasons therefor;
(c) The details of programmes produced by departmental/non-departmental
persons during each of the last three years and till date; and
(d) The amount given, annually, to non-departmental persons for production of
these programmes during the said period?

(a) & (b) : Prasar Bharati has informed that Doordarshan sources its programmes from the following:-
(i) In-house production by Doordarshan Personnel
(ii) Commissioning, done by outside Producers where DD has full rights.
(iii) Sponsorship, where production costs borne by the outside producer. Outside producer/sponsor pays telecast fee to DD and gets Free Commercial Time (FCT) in lieu thereof to recover the production costs. Commercial rates are charged as per the Rate Card prescribed by Doordarshan.
(iv) Royalty: For limited telecast from outside producers.
(v) Acquisitions: For telecast for contracted periods from outside producers.
