a) the total quantity and value of metals exported from the country during the last three years and the current year, countrywise;
b) whether there is a massive fall in Iron and Steel exports including non-ferrous metals exports to the countries like US, UAE, Italy, Bangladesh and Nepal due to overall global slowdown observed in these sectors; and
c) if so, the details thereof along with the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

a) Total quantity and value of metal commodities exported from India during the last three years and the current year is at Annexure-I. Country –wise details of value of export of metal (top 25 countries) is at Annexure-II.
b) & (c) Generally there is a fall in the export of ferrous and Non-ferrous metals in current financial year to US, UAE, Italy, Bangladesh and Nepal @ 16.66%, 30.04%, 24.96%, 1.67% and 5.99% respectively (value based). The details of exports of total ferrous/non–ferrous metals were as follows:

There is a general fall in export of engineering commodities during the current year, which is also attributed to the overall global slowdown in trade during the year. Department of Commerce is interacting with industry to ascertain the corrective steps needed to sustain the long-time interest of India for export in this sector. Some of the recent steps taken to address the downturn in exports are:
i. Revision of MEIS scheme under Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 by inducting 110 new tariff lines and amplifying in MEIS support to 2228 existing tariff lines.
ii. Introduction of Interest equalization scheme for 416 tariff lines.
iii. Increase in duty drawback refund rates w.e.f. 23rd November, 2015
