Question : Filling up vacant posts

(a) whether any instructions have been given by the Railways to the concerned departments to fill up the vacant posts as a result of delay in filling up the post across the country, especially in Maharashtra; if so, the details thereof; State-wise/UT-wise/Zone-wise;

(b) the steps taken by the Railways to provide employment to the unemployed and to check unemployment in the country;

(c) whether there is any delay in filling up the huge backlog of vacancies pending for a long time and in the declaration of results of the selected candidates;

(d) if so, the details of the time-limit to fill up the said vacancies;

(e) the number of reserved posts including those reserved for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and the reasons for not filling these posts; and

(f) the details of the action taken by the Government during the last three years to increase employment opportunities in Railways?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (f) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 598 BY SHRI ARVIND GANPAT SAWANT, SHRIMATI BHAVANA PUNDALIKRAO GAWALI AND SHRI SANJAY JADHAV TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 20.07.2022 REGARDING FILLING UP VACANT POSTS

(a) to (e): No, Sir. Occurrence and filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and the same is filled by placement of indents by Railways with recruitment agencies as per operational requirements. During the process, vacancies may arise and these are filled subsequently.

The process of examination had got impacted due to COVID-19 related restrictions and resultant lockdowns imposed by various states. Once the things got normalized after ebbing of first wave of COVID-19 in the country, Railway Recruitment Boards have started recruitment process for notified vacancies from 15.12.2020 in phases.

(f): During 2019-2020 to 2021-2022, a total 137159 candidates have been empanelled/selected for various Group ā€˜Cā€™ posts (including level-1 posts).
In addition, a total of 10,568 candidates have been empanelled/selected in Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF).
